Beginning as the teen geek with the camera (and soon after driving away most of my friends with the constant need to document everything on film) I turned the lens outside, shooting animals, people and stuff outdoors.
Always around the water, I knew it was just a matter of time before I became a diver. Soon I realized the bias that Scuba publications have towards featuring pristine, pretty warm water reefs. The rugged beauty of my Southern California cold water diving was severely under-represented in nearly all of the dive images most divers and non-divers see.
I became determined to show the beauty of our cold, dark water coastline as it looks to me. I'm attracted to the small colorful creatures, the bright fish, the swaying kelp forests and the commitment and skill of the divers in this environment.
I've been fortunate to see my images of Southern California diving published in magazines, newspapers and online for several dive-related sites and environmental organizations.
I still love to shoot dry, but my true love is shooting in the cold deep water of the Pacific Coast.
